Our Business

Through years of experience, we have developed a few basic rules of conduct that have yielded consistent results.  The most successful legislative efforts are those that are backed by reason and purpose, and are carried out with respect for the decision makers and for the well-being of all effected parties. 

Who We Are

Speedwell Group LLC was founded by Michael Covington.  He has spent his professsional life working with people to resolve conflicts and achieve results.  He began as a community relations consultant, then spent fourteen years as chief lobbyist for Carolinas AGC representing the commercial and industrial construction industry in South Carolina, then thirteen years as the chief governmental relations officer for the South Carolina Department of Transportation. The South Carolina Code of Laws contains many pages written by Covington and shepherded through the legislative process by him. He has served as an elected official in the Town of Irmo, and he was elected President of the South Carolina Society of Association Executives, among many other leadership roles.  Through his broad range of experience, he has developed a network of friends and associates from across the state and the nation.  He has a thorough knowledge of the legislative process and the communication skills to get things done and make you look good in the process!
